I’m amazed the dealership even used a diagnostic flow chart. Even if the flow chart is flawed, a huge number of people’s automotive problems would not occur if the workshops used the flow chart info. The strength of the TAT network highlights how important good diagnostic skills are. Parts swapping leads to compromised industry trust.

Temp sensor diagnosis; observe live data, disconnect sensor, value should go to around -40 C. Jump the two pins on the connector, the value on the scantool should max out at around 250 C. This proves wiring and ecu are most likely good, replace the temp sensor....10 minute diagnosis.

on my focus 2005 1.6 tdci, car will not start and i have (16) code on imobiliser which means fault with can bus, that actually means that instrument clusture needs resoldering?

Please could you tell me where you can purchase this tool- I also need to replace the dual mass fly wheel and clutch assembly but this tool doesn't seem to be available in the UK? Just trying to keep my old 1999 T4 on the road.

Thanks for this one. We have a D22 YD25 in that will start up but cuts out when idle drops below 1000revs, if you flick the heat switch it will idle forever. Until you hit the clutch and it drops the revs. If we unplug the cam or crank sensors individually it will start up and idle fine but plug it back in and it goes bad again on next start. Will scope it in the morning and have a look.

Wouldnt touch modern hybrids with a barge pole, the prius suffers from components running constantly like the electric water pump which throws up a hybrid battery low fault, not always the battery on them

Hi, My battery light came on and the car just stalled. wont start. mechanic says no codes. sprayed diesel in intake car starts and runs until spray stops. Battery light still on. fuel tank pump sounds like it is working. Any solutions

Good find, I always check the condition of all hosing on older cars, it can cause miss fires and that can divert repairers to apparent electrical faults. Cheers Jeff
